A beautiful Shropshire village church and cricket club marquee reception
I'm a nomad
I Left home at 19 to go to university and lived in about 8 different student houses. Then, whilst working in hospitality, I lived in about 10 different places over a period of about 12 years. I have finally put down roots on the West Midlands/Staffordshire/Shropshire border and it's great slowly getting to explore the oodles of countryside we have on our doorstep
So, photographing a wedding at the 11th century church in Claverley, where the Bride's parents got married, gives a wonderful feeling of history and continuity. When it's followed by a reception in a marquee at Claverley Cricket Club, which last year fielded a team made up of three generations of the family, you get a real sense of connection with this East Shropshire village
We never spoke a word
But every thought she had I heard
From across the room
We were standing face to face
I couldn't find the words to say
Gimme one more move
Glasses of gin big enough to swim in, some footballing rivalry and sing-a-long Oasis during the wedding breakfast!!
Although I went from the Bride's family home to the church and then to the cricket club you could have walked the whole journey if you'd had about fifteen minutes to spare (which I didn't!) which gives you an idea of what a local affair this was.
With a bar made by the groom, the Bride's Mum the wedding planner and her brother the M.C. it was Shropshire through and through.
This is a little preview of the day
