As seen on Instagram - March Top 6 photos (there was a tie!)

So, the votes have been counted....(well, I've looked at how many likes each image has had actually!!)...and here are the most liked images from my Instagram feed for last month

It's fascinating seeing what catches the eye and leads to people hitting that little heart symbol underneath each image

I wish I could say that I know which ones are going to get the most likes, but I'd be wrong!!

We've got four different weddings, an engagement shoot, a wedding in Birmingham, one in Worcestershire, one in Shropshire and one in Nottinghamshire

One thing they all have in common? They're all black & white. Now, it's fair to say that I do post quite a lot of black & white images but there were certainly plenty of colours to choose from. So why is it that it's black & white ones exclusively getting the most engagement?

Well I think it's because there's a simplicity in a black & white image, a real focus on the emotion within the shot by removing any colour that might be a distraction. I think that in a monochrome image your eye is drawn straight to the subject matter which makes them stand out

Let's see if a colour makes the grade next month!!

Wedding at Fazeley Studios in Birmingham

The most popular image is another one from the Wedding of Jenny & Matt at Fazely Studios in Digbeth, not long before Christmas. This shot is during Bridal preparation at The Malmaison in The Mailbox with Jenny's sister helping to fasten her dress up

Why was it the most popular?? I guess because it captures a moment, there's humour to it and it instantly takes you to a time and a place on their wedding day

Wedding at St Micheal & All Angels in Tettenhall, Wolverhampton

Next we have one at Vicky & David's wedding at The Old Vicarage Boutique Hotel in Southwell, Nottinghamshire

It was last autumn and is another one taken during bridal preparation. Every wedding is different, sometimes there is a frenzied rush at the last minute to finish getting ready. Other times, it's a bit calmer and there is time to relax before the ceremony

This wedding was one of the later, Vicky and her Bridesmaids all ready for their entrance but with time to kill. So, what are you going to do but take a selfie of course!!

Here we're getting a little bit closer to the wedding ceremony with the Bride making her way to the Church in Hadnall in Shropshire.

I've used the arch of church gate as a frame for this shot which also draws your eye into the subject matter.

I think once again, it takes you to a time and place and captures a moment

Warwickshire Wedding in Alvechurch

This one is a little bit different to the rest as it's from an engagement shoot last autumn. Phillipa & Daniel aren't getting married until this summer but they wanted to send out personalised save the date cards and thought their engagement shoot was the perfect opportunity

They chose their wedding venue for the shoot which is the wonderful Whitbourne Hall on the Worcestershire/Herefordshire border.

I approach my engagement shoots in the same way that I approach the couple photos on the wedding day, it's all about being relaxed and getting natural shots that really capture genuine emotion

Wedding at St Mary Magdalene Church in Bridgnorth Hightown

Here we have one from a recent wedding at Curradine Barns in Worcestershire.

Zara and Jay have a daughter who was almost as excited as the Bride I think! When she saw her Mum in her dress she was captivated by the veil and wanted to see what it was like, hence, a veil made for two!!

It's such a lovely moment between Mother & Daughter and I hope will be a wonderful memory for them both

Finally, we have the Mother of the Bride!

Again, it's during Bridal prep (there seems to be a theme here!) as the Bride's Mum looks at her daughter, in her wedding dress, proud as only a Mum can be.

Although these 6 images have been selected by my Instagram followers I think they're a good reflection of my style and approach to wedding photography. It's all about emotion, capturing moments and telling a story

If you're getting married then please have a look around my blog and website and get in touch

There's a little Facebook comments box at the bottom of the page. It would be lovely to hear which your favourite is :-)
