Ingestre Hall Wedding | Sarah & Darren

Ingestre Hall Wedding Photography, Staffordshire | Sarah & Darren

Having been booked to photograph Sarah & Darren's wedding at Ingestre Hall in Staffordshire I had a problem; how on earth you do you pronounce Ingestre?!?!

Linguistic challenges aside it's a great venue for a wedding. It's a grade II listed Jacobean mansion, near Stafford and formally the seat of the Earls Talbot but now, rather surprisingly I thought, owned by Sandwell Borough Council. They use it as a residential arts and conference centre during the week but hire it out for exclusive use as a wedding venue at the weekend.

As your drive up to the hall you're greeted by this very imposing fascia and it must be wonderful as the bride & groom to know that it's going to be your home for the day, your very own Jacobean Mansion!

After arriving in a suitably vintage car (I was thinking Downton Abbey!) the Bride made her entrance into the Yellow Room for the wedding ceremony. The interiors of the hall were originally designed by John Nash, famous for his work on Brighton Royal Pavilion and Buckingham Palace, and look stunning.

It's safe to say that there was a lot of emotion from both the Bride & Groom at this wedding and I always feel privileged to be in a position to capture their day for them. Quite often I'm right at the front and get a different perspective on the ceremony to all of the guests whether it's a church or civil wedding.

After the wedding breakfast was something I've not seen before. They had an acoustic from their wedding band (The Kicks) with them going around each of the tables letting the guests decide what they played. I have to say, they were brilliant and it was a great addition to the day. Then they played a full set in the evening to really get the party going

All in all, a lovely wedding at a lovely venue, but I'm still not sure how you pronounce Ingestre!!
