Some of your questions answered
There are all sort of things that people have asked when booking a family photoshoot so I've tried to answer some of the most common questions here.
But if there's anything at all that you'd like to know that isn't covered then please, just ask
Location, location, location
Understandably, when it's a location photoshoot, people often ask where is the best place to go.
The answer is that it can vary depending upon on the time of the year and the ages of your children but I can give you lots of advice with this so we get the best location for you and your family
What should we all wear?
This is another common question and the most important thing is that everyone feels comfortable as I want you to feel relaxed.
After you book I send you a guide to getting the most out of your session and this includes some advice about choosing colours for everyone's clothes
Do we have to pose and say 'cheese'?!
In short, no!
If you (or your partner) hates having their photograph taken and just the prospect of having to pose brings you out in a cold sweat then this could be just what you're looking for!
My mantra is no foreced smiles and no posing. It's all about you having fun as a family. The more you all mess around and play together then the less likely you are to be thinking about me being there. You'll be smiling because you're happy and I'm there to capture it all. That's what documentary photography is all about
What if it rains?!
Believe it or not, but I've had to cancel very few sessions due to the weather. I always keep an eye on the forecast in the week leading up to the shoot and if it's looking like it's going to chuck it down then I'll suggest that we rearrange.
But if there is the prospect of the odd shower it's always a good idea to come along prepared just in case
What happens at the shoot?
I try to let your children dictate the pace of the shoot. As a Dad of two myself I know that sometimes they can be in the mood and other times they're not which is why I often suggest locations with a lot of variety and things to explore.
I find that if there is a sense of going on an adventure then it tends to keep the attention of children and if they seem to be losing interest a little we can move on and see what else there is to discover
And after the shoot?
I'll get busy editing the images which normally takes a couple of weeks. Then, I'll arrange to come and see you to show you a slideshow of your images before we start to go through them for you to choose favourites.
I can give advice about which products will best show off your images and help design proofs to give you an idea of how they will look on the wall
